A Hartal Day
Mar 9th, 2007 by MadV
Since a hartal was called yesterday, Veeran was at home :-). And we decided to venture out for experiments. Before getting on to the details of experiments, the word hartal reminds me of something.
Kerala considers hartals as National holiday. Whenever some party calls hartal on some issue, (which is no way affecting us), we decide to sit at home and relax. The added advantage is that you dont need to expect any guest at home as well :-P. Ultimate laziness arises out of your nerves. Television on and other creative things goes on(BTW by creative I mean dreams and hence sleeping!).
And our (actually mine) decision was to idle away the time around Zimbly :-D. By around one O’Clock in the afternoon I realised that I’ve not cooked anything for lunch. The lazy goose in me told me to reheat the stuff kept in the biggest invention of mankind, the refrigerator.
Just to add variety to life I thought of using handsome microwave oven instead of sweet pressure cooker. As not being used frequnetly, me and Veeran took some time to decrypt its working culture :-D. Though after a while we expertised in microwave engineering, the lazy goose pricked me and told, “It’s not going to be easy. You’ve to clean up the microwave cookwares before and after using it”, which sounded very true for me. Hence dropped out the plans of reheating stuff in microwave oven.
Since we mastered microwave engineering, we decided to do something with the gained knowledge. Hence decided to cook rice in microwave oven. For help regarding the quantity of water and time and heat of cooking, referred a microwave cookbook which has been lying in the rack for long. And successfully managed to find out a suitable microwave cookware for rice cooking. But a research revealed that we dont have oven gloves.
Dont get astonished but lazy goose no longer troubled me, hence cooked rice in oven only. And it was kind of cooked properly but a little watery. The process seemed to be simple once it got over. Hence now we are in search of good (easy and free!) microwave recipes. Dont get surprised if you find posts saying re-birth of microwave pop corn, microwave potato, microwave palpayasam et al :-D.
As a closure note for the hartal matter, in Trivandrum Infy the welcome board says the rules of Sangamam campus. And it vividly projects that if a hartal is called on any of the working day, the coming saturday will be working for all Sangamam Infoscions.

First of all - New Blog looks adipoli.
This thing about Hartals and Kerala - I was so pissed off whenever that happened. Reason being, Kerala is one of the most educated state in India and still its sad that people don’t understand how much we lose in just one non-productive day. Sigh !! Its Crazy !!!!!!!
Thanks for a positive comment. And about Hartals, I used to love it when I was studying.. Hehe… Even now I like it if there are no specific plans for the day.
Another quick question - Can you import your existing [Blogger.com] posts out here to Wordpress??
Yes Ofcourse you can. Install a plug-in for that. Check out Import New Blogger to Wordpress. I’ve done it successfully. In case you need any help, I think I can help you since I’ve done it for myself..
