Lunar Eclipse
Mar 6th, 2007 by MadV
Couple of days back on the day of Holi, 4th March 2007, a spectacular event took place in the outer space, Lunar Eclipse. A lunar eclipse occurs when Sun, Earth and Moon comes in a nearly straight line.
The straight line is formed by sun and moon at both ends. And moon has to be a full moon. When earth’s and moon’s path becomes parallel, sun’s rays casts shadow of earth on moon. This is Lunar eclipse. And on the other hand in case of solar eclipse moon’s shadow falls on earth.
Lunar eclipse occurs atleast twice a year. Where as Solar eclipse is a rarer phenomenon. Comparitively lunar eclipse is less harmful than solar eclipse. You can watch lunar eclipse with naked eyes. Solar eclipse should not be watched directly even using sun glasses, binoculars, safety glasses, telescope, goggles or any other viewing instrument.
Earlier, till 1980’s I guess, eclipses were treated very seriously. People were forbidden to go out of home. Just after the eclipse, you have to take bath since that generation knew that the invisible rays generated will cause damage to body cells. Also food was not cooked at that time. If some left over food existed, it would be trashed due to the exposure to radiation.
Now we know scientifically how a lunar and solar eclipses occur. And we are hardly bothered about the after effects of being exposed to the infrared rays. We dont mind having food at that time. And later when some malignancy is diagnosed in the body we’ll wonder what went wrong. Researches say that some radiations boosts cell growth and multiplicity.
Even rays from television and other electronic appliances are not good for the body. Pregnant women are not supposed to watch television [Any CRT display] since the radiations from it negatively affects the growth of organs of the foetus.
People of earlier generation used to eat rich food and also get engaged in work that involves lots of physical exercise. Now in the fast moving life, we go for junk food. And sit in front of PC and work. No physical exercise at all. No wonder why body cholestrol builds up and results in untreatable diseases.
As an effect of westernisation we tend to ignore what our fore fathers taught us. We try to be just comfortable. The truth seems to be not matching our comfort. Hence we ignore it blindly.
Anyways let me be positive woman. Whatever happening is happening only for a better world :-).
[Self Thought: Oops I started with Lunar eclipse and where did I end up :-(?]
