Southwest Monsoon On The Way to Kerala
May 17th, 2007 by MadV
Good news to hot blooded folks. Yep this year monsoon will strike Kerala coast a bit early.
Usual entry of monsoon is around June 1st. It comes as a naughty boy to wet the new school uniforms of kids on the way to school on the reopening day after two months long summer vacation.

During the last 50 years, the earliest monsoon onset over Kerala was on May 14, 1960 and the most delayed onset was on June 18 in 1972.
Climatologists says that monsoon has already onset in Arabian Sea and is now heading fast to lower coasts of Indian Peninsula. The thick grey clouds are expected to hit the sub continent on May 24th.
Below shown is a satellite image of a previous southwest monsoon hitting Indian coastal lines.

The India meteorological department says that we’ll receive rainfall of 95 percent of the long term average. This will indeed be a happy news for the farmers as well. Let the rain gods shower on blessings on the crops.
Oh My God I’ve to wait for another year to write another post on summer :-P?
Edavam has just started and Edavappathi is on the way. Hurray! Can I feel the cool breeze? Has the gray clouds started covering the entire sky? Can I hear the growling of clouds? Has the rain started?
Oh ho hoo.. I’m getting excited :-D.
PS: Will climate scientists argue on early onset of monsoon as an effect of global warming?
